| This single bedroom plus loft mud brick (adobe) house was built by an owner-builder in a forest
quite near Pinpandoor. The house has electricity and telephone connected but collects rain water
from the roof for drinking and kitchen use and from a small dam for garden use. Sewerage is
disposed of by means of a septic tank from which water is directed to underground drainage
lines. The lack of a water supply and connection to a sewerage system reduces annual costs
considerably. The house faces north for effective solar heating and has a slow combustion heater
for winter heating. |
